Nothing Could Be More Important

Our family recently returned from a holiday in the country where we had very little internet access and most of the traffic was cows. The time to read and think and enjoy the countryside without distractions was refreshing, reminding me again that sometimes the best way to keep going strong is to stop for a little while…

There’s always something—
Something to see
Something to do
Someone demanding attention from you
Something that’s buzzing
With emails incoming
And something that’s well overdue

There’s always something—
Something distracting
Pretending and acting like
Something is there that you’re missing
Insisting that
Things are more interesting
Somewhere with somebody else

There’s always something—
But sometimes it’s nothing
That needs our attention
Suspension of action
For rest and reflection

There’s always something—
But nothing could be more important
