The Day Of Small Things

A poem, based on the encouragement of Zechariah 4:10 and Galatians 6:9:

Do not despise the day of small things
The everyday normal that every day brings
As he is working, the robin still sings
For meaning and purpose are not just for kings

Do not despise the day of small people
The poor, the young, the sick, and the feeble
Give them a hand and a seat at the table
God himself was born in a stable

Do not despise the smallest beginning
The size of the seed that the farmer is sowing
The time that it takes in the process of growing
Will lead to a harvest—

If we do not lose heart

  1. Thanks so much for this. Very appropriate and lovely thoughts here. Meaning and purpose not just for kings…so true. And the smallest beginnings…yes!! There will be a harvest so keep planting those small seeds of love, kindness, patience….etc..

  2. Did you write this, Seth? I am assuming you did, but I’ve made wrong assumptions before. If you did write it, may I have your permission to copy it? I will probably only use it as a framed poem in my dining room, but I also might share it with others. I would like to give credit where credit is due.
